Art Museums as a Place to Practice Claircognizant and Clairsentient Abilities

When first noticing, developing, and honing your skills as a psychic medium, it’s common to feel a little uncertain about the messages you are receiving, especially the messages that come from the subtlest of senses: claircognizance and clairsentience. Claircognizance translates into “clear knowing” and often refers to instances of having accurate gut feelings, flashes of insight, or just knowing something that didn’t necessarily come from your own thoughts but is nonetheless there as a thought. Claircognizance allows you to know something is real, without necessarily having a logical explanation or evidence for it. Sounds a little tricky, doesn’t it? For me, claircognizant messages show up in my head like a quick flash of understanding or just knowing something with every part of my being. Over time, with enough practice and with enough validation of accuracy, I’ve become better able to trust this skill. It also works well in combination with the other clairs, which helps solidify the accuracy of the overall message.
Clairsentience translates into “clear feeling” and can best be described as having an intuitive, empathic ability to feel others’ emotions, energy, or physical states without them telling you. For me, this shows up as an actual feeling in my body—either a purely physical one like a quick chest pain or headache, or an emotional one such as sadness or happiness. Clairsentience helps me fairly quickly identify how someone passed, how they felt about a scenario or person, what kind of person they were in life, and how they feel now in the spirit world.
The beautiful thing is that the more I lean in and trust these abilities and the messages I’m receiving, the better and more complex the messages get, and the more these skills increase overall! So, how can you begin to practice and better develop your skills of claircognizance and clairsentience? One obvious answer is to practice with willing friends and family members and then invite their feedback. Another way is to join a practice circle or mentorship group. But, what if you want to start by practicing a bit on your own?
My suggestion is to visit your local art museum! Spend a few minutes grounding yourself, taking some breaths, and clearing any stagnant energy or thoughts as you walk in. Then, allow yourself to be naturally drawn to various pieces around the museum. What do you feel physically or emotionally as you stand in front of a particular piece of art? Do you get a sense of any emotions, perhaps the emotions of the artist as they created the work? Or the emotions of the subjects in the piece? Do you feel this in your body as a physical sensation, an energy, or an emotion? I find that when I’m picking up on others’ or spirits’ emotions, they come on very quickly and often intensely and they tend to fade once I identify that they’re not mine. When it’s my own emotional experience about a piece, it just feels like mine and it often sticks around longer even after I identify it.
Now see if any other impressions come up for you. Do you get a sense of just knowing something else about the artist or the piece? Do your senses of clairaudience or clairvoyance deliver any further information? Jot your impressions down. Later, if you feel inclined, do a quick Google search on the artist or the piece and see if anything you picked up on can be validated. Don’t worry if you don’t find validation for your message or if your message wasn’t 100% accurate the first time. Keep leaning into and trusting the subtleties of these types of messages and, before you know it, it will become second nature!
