How to Connect with a Loved One on the Other Side: A Professional Insight
Losing a loved one creates a void that nothing seems to fill. The longing to connect with a loved one on the other side can be overwhelming. While the pain of loss is unique to each individual, there are paths and practices that can help bridge the gap between this world and the other, bringing solace and healing.
Fostering Your Connection to the Other Side
It can feel a little scary or daunting to open yourself up to connections, visitations, or communication from your loved ones on the other side. Know that it's okay to go slowly and take your time AND that your loved ones on the other side will honor your boundaries as well. They don't want to scare or overwhelm you and, in my experience as a medium, I find they are often holding back to make sure they don't.
The first step is to acknowledge an openness to communication from your loved one. In other words, let them know you're ready! This can be done aloud or in your mind. Keep in mind that they likely know you pretty well and therefore know your limits, but that it can also be helpful to specifically ask for what you want and set a limit for what you're not ready for or don't want. For example, "Please visit me in a dream" or "I'm not ready for you to move anything in my home" or "Please send me a sign you are here". Also know that they may or may not show up during intense times of grief because they don't want to make things harder for you...but they also may show up in these specific times to try to comfort you.
Once you've opened yourself up to it and set your intention, your job is to wait and watch! Be patient and be open to how they might also choose to communicate with you. I've had many, many clients express their openness to a connection but then miss it altogether...which is also totally okay! If this happens, know that your loved ones are trying other ways to reach you, hoping that you'll eventually notice. Get creative! They may use their unique styles, interests, or sense of humor to connect with you. They may also simply use your memories and the workings of your mind. To clarify...do you ever have a seemingly random memory of your loved one pop into your mind? In my experience, that is your loved one making and using a readily available connection between your minds!
Here are some other ways I've seen loved ones on the other side connect:
Moving items in your home
Placing something in an obvious place for you to see it, though you don't remember putting it there
Flickering technology or lights
Turning things on or off
Items you cross on your path such as feathers, heart shaped rocks, etc.
Unique animal experiences such as with birds or other animals
Memories suddenly popping into your mind, seemingly out of nowhere
Waking you up at very specific times on the clock that are meaningful
Stopping watches or clocks at certain times
Dream visitations
Feeling a touch or hug when no one is physically in the room with you
Metaphorical scenarios that later make sense to you in an a-ha moment
Answers to questions that just kind of drop into your mind out of nowhere can be a loved one helping you
Hearing their voice either aloud or in your mind
Smelling something that reminds you of them when nothing to cause that smell is present
Through free writing or asking questions in a journal and opening it up to let them speak or answer
Feeling a tingling or other bodily sensation
Through the behavior of your pets (for example, do they look at a specific corner of the room? Do they suddenly wake up and look around?)
Through the behavior of your kids (for example, do they talk to someone who physically isn't there? Do they tell you they see someone? Do they laugh at something you can't see or hear?)
Through an unexplained urge to connect to a medium or a specific person (who later talks about them)
The bottom line is to trust yourself! If the experience is real to YOU, it IS real. The more that you trust these communications and yourself, the more you open up this special form of communication to the other side!
Specifically Connecting Through Dreams
Dreams often serve as spiritual gateways, providing a unique platform to reach out to a loved one on the other side. Before you go to sleep, set the tone for tranquility and peace in your environment. As you settle, consciously invite your loved one to visit you in your dreamscape. It's essential to be aware that the messages you may receive might not be explicit or clear-cut; they might be symbolic or may require careful interpretation. Keeping a dream journal can be an effective way to record any potential signs or messages that you may receive. Just as with the other forms of connection to the other side, be patient and open-minded as you embark on this journey of dream exploration! Trust that what you receive IS real.
Seeking Professional Assistance
Should your own efforts to connect continue feel elusive, you might consider reaching out to a trained psychic medium. Equipped with heightened sensitivity and skills to communicate with the spiritual realm, mediums such as myself can offer assistance in interpreting messages, signs, or directions from your loved one. It's important to approach this option with discernment and due diligence. Seek out a reputable professional who resonates with you, and whose approach feels genuine and comforting. Remember that these interactions should inspire feelings of support and understanding and that your journey to connect with your loved one on the other side is an intimate endeavor that you know best!
